Ten Sections, One Login, $0: Everything a Dealer Gets on GRID

People hear "free solar sales platform" and assume a teaser tier. So here is the whole thing, section by section: what a dealer owner gets on day one, what each piece replaces, the one line item that costs money, and how GRID gets paid.

The first question we get on every intro call is some version of this:

"Okay, but what do I actually get?"

Fair. "Free platform" is a phrase the software industry has ruined. It usually means three features, a seat cap, and a sales rep who calls you on day fourteen.

So this post is the answer in full. We published the same list as a platform breakdown on the site. Here it is with the reasoning attached: ten sections a dealer owner gets on day one, what each one replaces, and where the one paid line item is.

1. CRM: one workspace, not six tabs

Your pipeline lives in one place, from new lead to qualified to proposal sent to signed. You can import from a CSV and export back out, which matters more than it sounds. A CRM you can't leave is a hostage situation. One you can load your existing book into on day one is a tool.

Cost: $0.

2. The installer network: the part software can't copy

This is the section that isn't software at all. Dealers on GRID get access to our network of 5-star rated install partners. Every one has had its licensing, financials, crew size, references and past volume checked, and we've met all of them in person. A partner that misses the standard leaves the network.

California is the primary focus today, with expansion to 31 states planned by Q4 2026.

A small org normally can't get a serious installer to return a call. On GRID the relationships are already built.

Cost: $0.

3. Canvassing: free for the whole team

You've heard of SalesRabbit and Terros. They're powerful tools, and they aren't cheap once you multiply by headcount. Ours is free for you and for every rep on your team. Start a session, work the map or the list, pull public records on the address in front of you, and disposition the door: not home, interested, appointment set, come back, renter, has solar, do not contact.

Cost: $0, every seat.

4. Leads: earned first, bought second

Dealers earn free leads at milestones just for building on GRID. We covered the exact ladder in an earlier post: 5 at account setup, 5 at a verified proposal, 15 at your first funded deal.

When you want more volume than that, you can buy leads through our exclusive network of lead vendor partners. Buying is optional. Earning is built in.

Cost: free leads included, purchasing optional.

5. Commissions and business tools

Commission tracking, splits, payout lines, documents and org settings sit in the same place as the deals they come from. That's the whole point. Most commission disputes trace back to two systems holding two versions of one deal. One system can't disagree with itself.

One honest caveat: payroll processing is coming soon. It isn't live yet, and we'd rather say so than let you find out.

Cost: $0.

6. Hiring: one pipeline, not an inbox

A sales org is a recruiting org that also sells. GRID includes an applicant tracking system, so candidates move through applied, screened, interview and offer in one view instead of across a text thread, an Indeed inbox and somebody's memory.

Cost: $0.

7. Training: your course, your brand

Three layers here. You get GRID's knowledge base free. You get GRID's own e-learning courses. And you can build and deliver your own training, branded to your business and assigned to your reps, with completion tracked.

Most orgs under fifty reps have never had a real course of their own. The reason was always cost and effort, and both are gone.

Cost: $0.

8. Services: what we connect for you

Some things an org needs aren't software. Through GRID you can reach leads (free and paid), recruiting help for setters and closers, and AI Concierge. They're available when you want them and invisible when you don't.

9. Roles and permissions

Admin, manager, rep, setter. An admin sees everything. A manager sees their team. A rep sees their deals. A setter sees their sits. Permissions follow the role, so adding a person doesn't mean rebuilding who can see what.

Cost: $0.

10. AI Concierge: the one optional line item

AI Concierge answers your inbound calls and texts with voice and SMS AI, qualifies the homeowner on your script, and either books the appointment onto your calendar or transfers the call live to a person on your team. If a caller asks, it tells them it's an AI.

It's the only thing on this list with a price: $99.99 a month per org, not per rep, with 250 voice minutes included and $0.20 a minute after that. You link your own Twilio and Vapi accounts, and those providers bill you for usage separately. Nothing else on the platform requires it.

So what's the catch?

The catch is the business model, and we put it on the pricing page under that exact heading.

GRID is paid on the install side of the deal, and only when your deals fund. There's no seat price to negotiate down, because there was never a seat price. If your org signs up and never funds a deal, we earn nothing. That is a strange way to run a software company and a sensible way to run a partner.

It also tells you what we're motivated to do. We don't make money when you add logins. We make money when your installs get built. Every section above exists to move a deal from a door to a funded install with fewer places for it to die.

See it on your own numbers

Reading a list is one thing. The intro call is 20 minutes, with no pressure and no hard pitch. We walk the platform and run your numbers live. Worst case, you leave knowing what your current stack really costs you.

GRID is a dealer operating platform and does not sell solar to homeowners. AI Concierge pricing is $99.99/month per organization with 250 voice minutes included and $0.20/minute after that; Twilio and Vapi are third-party accounts billed separately by those providers. Payroll processing is in development. Nothing here is a representation about earnings or results, which depend on your organization.
