The Deals You Never Got to Pitch. Why We Built GRID's AI Concierge.

Solar dealers lose more deals to unanswered phones than to bad pitches. GRID's AI Concierge went live October 1st — it answers missed calls by voice and text, then books the appointment or hands the homeowner to a live rep, for $99.99 a month per org.

Every solar dealer owner has scrolled this list:

Missed call — 6:52 PM. Missed call — 8:14 PM. Missed call — 10:31 PM.

Each line is a homeowner who saw a flyer, filled out a form, or got a knock earlier in the week and finally decided to call. Your rep was on a door. Then in a sit. Then asleep. By the time anybody called back the next morning, the homeowner had already booked with whoever picked up first.

Nobody tracks these as lost deals, because they never became deals. That's exactly why they're the most expensive leak in a solar org.

Speed wins, and solar reps can't be fast

This isn't a hunch. In a widely cited Harvard Business Review study of more than 2,000 companies, firms that responded to an inbound lead within an hour were nearly seven times as likely to qualify it as firms that waited even one more hour, and more than 60 times as likely as firms that waited a day or longer.

Now look at how a solar sales day actually runs:

  • Afternoon and evening on doors. The hours homeowners are home are the hours your reps can't look at their phones.
  • Kitchen-table sits. Answering a different lead's call in the middle of a proposal is how you lose two deals at once.
  • After dark. Plenty of homeowners do their research and make calls at 9 or 10 PM, after the kids are down. Nobody on your team should be answering then.

The people your org pays to be fast are, by the nature of the job, busy exactly when leads call. A full-time setter helps during business hours, costs a salary or a split, and still goes home.

What Concierge does

GRID's AI Concierge went live for dealers on October 1, 2026. It does one job:

It turns missed calls into booked appointments.

  • Answers by voice. When a homeowner calls one of your numbers, Concierge picks up. You choose which numbers it handles.
  • Texts back by SMS. If the caller hangs up or prefers text, Concierge follows up by message so the conversation keeps going.
  • Qualifies your way. It starts from GRID's standard solar qualification templates (homeowner or renter, rough monthly bill, roof situation, best time to meet), and you can rewrite the questions, the flow and the handoffs however your org sells.
  • Books the appointment. It puts the sit on your calendar, so your rep wakes up to a confirmed appointment instead of a voicemail.
  • Or hands off a hot caller live. When someone is ready to talk now and a person is available, Concierge transfers the call to the numbers you choose. It closes the gap without taking the conversation away from your team.

It works around the clock, including weekends and the 11 PM calls nobody wants to take.

Your script, not ours

Every org qualifies differently. Some want the bill and the roof before they'll send a rep; some just want a name and a time. Concierge runs on Vapi together with GRID's CRM, so the conversation is yours to shape: start from our solar templates, then change the questions, the order, when it books and when it transfers. The CRM knows who the caller is and what's already happened with them, so Concierge isn't starting from zero on a repeat caller.

What it isn't

It's not a replacement for your closers. Concierge books the sit or transfers the call. Your rep runs it. Homeowners still buy from people.

It's not pretending to be human. If a caller asks whether they're talking to an AI, Concierge says yes.

It's not a cold-calling robot. Inbound is Concierge's bread and butter: it answers people who called you and follows up with people who reached out. The FCC ruled in 2024 that AI-generated voices count as "artificial" voices under the TCPA, so outbound AI calls without prior consent are a legal risk you shouldn't take. Inbound is where the leak is and where it's safe, so that's what Concierge is built for. And because it runs on GRID's CRM, you can record and manage the outreach consent you've already obtained in the same place your leads live.

It's not a seat fee in disguise. GRID's platform is $0 per seat, per month, and that doesn't change. Concierge is an optional service priced per org, not per rep. Add ten reps and the price doesn't move.

The math is short

Concierge is $99.99 a month per org, with 250 voice minutes included and $0.20 a minute after that. Your Twilio and Vapi usage is billed to you directly by those providers, separately from GRID.

You already know what one funded deal is worth to your org. Here's the only question that matters: does your team miss enough calls in a month that one of them would have turned into a sit that closed?

If you've ever scrolled the list at the top of this post, you know the answer. (Illustrative, not a guarantee. Your results depend on your lead volume, your market, and your reps.)

Why we built it

We were a solar dealership before we were a software company, and every tool in GRID started as something we needed to run our own deals. This one came from watching good leads die in a call log. Not because anyone was lazy, but because the job puts reps in front of one homeowner at a time while the next one is calling.

So we built a setter that never sleeps, and as of October 1st it's available to every dealer on GRID.

Get it running

Setup takes two accounts you control: link a Twilio account and a Vapi account to GRID, pick which of your numbers Concierge answers, and pick which numbers it transfers live calls to. Your numbers stay yours.

If you're not on GRID yet: the platform is still $0, and Concierge is $99.99 a month per org on top. One 20-minute call and we'll walk you through both.
